Special Focus on Intelligent Control 

Today very complex systems are required to meet the increasing technological demands. Such complex systems can hardly be controlled well by conventional approaches. Intelligent control of complex systems ensures that high performance can be achieved and maintained in different environments. Consequently, the study and design of intelligent control are very important. 

Intelligent control is a fusion of a number of research areas in systems and control, computer science, operations research and others, mainly involving adaptive control, fuzzy control, neural net-based control, knowledge based control, hybrid intelligent control, learning control, evolutionary mechanism based control, multi-sensor integration, failure diagnosis, reconfigurable control, and so on, which are often interconnected to operate within a hierarchical architecture and often distributed for complex dynamical systems.

This Special Focus aims at exhibiting the latest research achievements, findings and ideas in the realm of intelligent control. It will bring together relevant papers and ideas to promote the development of theory, design, implementation, and applications of intelligent control.

Manuscripts submitted for publication in the Special Focus will undergo a standard review process. Only those manuscripts that require minor revisions will be accepted for rapid publication in the Focus.

Prospective authors should prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the Science in China: Information Sciences format and submit the PDF version of their complete manuscripts online according to the instructions given at http://info.SciChina.com.

        Acceptance notification:                July 15, 2009

        Final manuscript due:                       July 20, 2009
